Who we are
The Human Judgment Company, doing business as Quartz, operates Quartz. These terms are an agreement between you and The Human Judgment Company, referred to here as “Quartz,” “we,” or “us.” Contact us at mark@tryquartz.ai or 2261 Market Street, STE 63678, San Francisco, CA 94114, United States.
These terms cover tryquartz.ai, the workspace, public demos, waitlist, invitations, and related services. By accepting these terms when joining the waitlist or continuing with Google, you agree to them. Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle personal information.
Your account and access
You must be at least 13, or the minimum age required in your country to use this service. If you are under 18 or your local age of majority, your parent or guardian must review and agree to these terms and supervise your use. If you use Quartz for an organization, you must have authority to act for it.
Keep your account information accurate and your Google sign-in secure. Let us know if someone uses your account without permission. Access depends on the waitlist, invitations, usage limits, and model availability. We’ll let you know when a waitlist place is ready; joining does not guarantee access or a date. Invitations can expire and cannot be resold.
Your work and AI output
Your work stays yours. You give Quartz permission to store, process, send, and display your documents, questions, files, and other material as needed to provide and support the features you use. This includes sharing relevant material with AI providers and services you connect. You keep ownership of your work.
As between you and Quartz, you may use the outputs generated for you, subject to applicable law, third-party rights, and provider terms. AI output may not be unique or eligible for copyright protection. You are responsible for having permission to provide your material and for your use of the results.
AI can make mistakes, including incorrect facts or sources, and its answers may be incomplete or biased. Even when models agree, check important details before using them. Quartz supports your judgment; it does not replace qualified medical, legal, financial, or other professional advice, or your own review of important decisions.
Sharing and connected tools
You control which documents or chats you share and which services you connect. People with access may copy or export content. A public share link can be forwarded, so share only what you intend others to see. Removing access cannot recall copies already made.
Connected services, including Google Drive, AI providers, web search, and MCP tools, have their own terms and privacy practices. Connections can read data or perform actions within the permissions you authorize. Review those permissions and any proposed actions. Disconnect a service in Quartz and, where applicable, revoke its permissions with that provider when you no longer need it.
Acceptable use
Do not use Quartz for illegal activity; harassment or exploitation; infringing intellectual property or privacy; distributing malware; fraud or impersonation; unauthorized access to systems or data; or attempts to bypass access controls, usage limits, or security measures. Do not submit information you are not authorized to share, or use Quartz as a regulated repository for sensitive information that requires a separate compliance agreement.
Do not overload the service, abuse public demos, collect other users’ content without permission, or interfere with the service. Report security issues and rights concerns to mark@tryquartz.ai, including enough detail for us to investigate.
Emails and preferences
We email you about your waitlist place, invitations, account, shared documents, and important service updates. You can also choose occasional ideas and reminders, and turn them off anytime in Settings or through the email’s unsubscribe link. Your account and important service emails are unaffected.
Service changes and ending use
Quartz is an evolving product. Features, models, limits, and availability may change. We aim to keep your work available but cannot promise uninterrupted service or permanent availability of a particular feature. Keep independent copies of important work. Any paid offering will disclose its price and payment terms before you agree to it.
You may stop using Quartz at any time and request account deletion at mark@tryquartz.ai. We may restrict or end access when reasonably necessary to address a breach of these terms, a security risk, a legal requirement, or discontinuation of the service. Where reasonably practical and legally permitted, we will give notice and an opportunity to export your work.
Responsibility and disputes
To the extent permitted by law, Quartz is provided as available without warranties of accuracy, fitness for a particular purpose, or uninterrupted operation. To the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, lost profits, or lost data, and our total liability arising from the service will not exceed the greater of US$100 or the amounts you paid us in the 12 months before the event giving rise to the claim. These limits do not apply to fraud, willful misconduct, or any liability that cannot lawfully be limited.
California law governs these terms, excluding its conflict-of-law rules, except where mandatory laws in your place of residence provide otherwise. Please contact us first so we can try to resolve a concern. Nothing in these terms requires arbitration, waives a class action, or takes away non-waivable consumer protections or your right to use a competent court.
Updates to these terms
We will update the effective date when these terms change. For material changes, we will provide appropriate notice through Quartz or email and seek renewed agreement where required. Changes apply prospectively. If you do not agree, stop using the service and contact us about exporting or deleting your account. If Quartz’s legal operator changes, we will identify the new operator and notify you as required.
