What do you want an alternative to change?
A good draft can make you feel finished too early. Before changing tools, ask whether the problem is the wording or the underlying argument. Another rewrite may improve the first without testing the second.
For a consequential document, a useful alternative lets you challenge the premise, compare a competing explanation, and keep the evidence that supports your final choice.
Three directions to explore
| Option | Our suggested use | The tradeoff to evaluate |
|---|---|---|
| Quartz | Compare perspectives around the draft you are building | Whether the comparison changes your thinking enough to be useful |
| ChatGPT | A broad assistant with research and analysis tools | Which tools your plan includes and whether you need them |
| Poe | Try different bots and conversation styles | Point consumption and how you retain the work you want to keep |
Scroll the table sideways to compare.

Give Claude’s existing workflow a fair test
Claude Projects hold context and instructions; artifacts provide a place to iterate on standalone content. Those are meaningful reasons to stay if your main need is a sustained drafting conversation.
Quartz’s proposition is a different rhythm: ask several models, compare, follow up, then insert the passages you choose. It does not depend on claiming that Claude writes badly. The value is in having another way to examine the same work.

Use the same brief, not the same expectations
Give each product the same audience, objective, constraints, and draft. Ask it to name a weak assumption before asking it to rewrite anything. Keep track of which suggestions you accept and why.
Do not choose based on the most flattering response. Choose the workflow that helps you notice and resolve a real problem in your work.
A question to start with
A few practical questions
The short ones are here. For anything else, ask below.
Do I have to stop using Claude to try Quartz?
No. You can evaluate Quartz on one document and keep your existing workflow while you decide whether comparing perspectives helps.
Can I start using Quartz today?
Quartz is opening access through its waitlist. You can explore the public demo, then join the waitlist for your own workspace. Signing in is for people who already have access.
Does agreement between AIs mean the answer is correct?
No. Agreement can help you identify a common view, but models can share an error. Check important claims against original evidence. Different answers are a reason to investigate, not a vote you have to follow.
