ChatGPT review

ChatGPT for serious work: evaluate the whole workflow.

ChatGPT is a broad assistant worth evaluating across the tasks you repeat. For difficult writing, test whether its suggestions improve the argument and survive your review. Polished language is only part of that test.

Where it earns a place

ChatGPT combines conversation with tools such as search, analysis, and Canvas, subject to availability. That breadth is a reason to evaluate it as a general working companion.

Our view: breadth is useful when your day involves several kinds of work. It is less informative when choosing how to handle one particularly difficult document. For that, test the specific sequence from brief to revision.

What to watch during a writing task

A well-phrased response can conceal a new assumption. Ask the model to distinguish what was in your brief from what it inferred. When it revises a passage, compare both the claim and the tone with the original.

If you keep requesting variations without making a decision, pause the rewriting. Ask which alternative best serves your audience and what the others sacrifice. A clear tradeoff is more useful than five nearly identical versions.

Test it with a real brief

Projects offer a way to retain files, chats, and instructions for a sustained effort. Use the context tools before concluding that every new conversation must start from scratch.

Keep a simple record of the changes you accepted and why. That gives you your own evidence about fit. This review does not claim measured time savings, an accuracy score, or a controlled comparison against competitors.

A question to start with

When Quartz is worth trying alongside it

Consider Quartz when asking for a second view is a recurring part of your work and you want the document to stay central. Keep ChatGPT if its existing tools already serve the task well. A new product should improve your process, not just add another place to ask.

A few practical questions

The short ones are here. For anything else, ask below.

Did Quartz run a hands-on benchmark for this review?

No. This is a documentation-based editorial assessment, with a practical evaluation method you can run yourself. It does not contain invented test results or ratings.

Can I start using Quartz today?

Quartz is opening access through its waitlist. You can explore the public demo, then join the waitlist for your own workspace. Signing in is for people who already have access.

Does agreement between AIs mean the answer is correct?

No. Agreement can help you identify a common view, but models can share an error. Check important claims against original evidence. Different answers are a reason to investigate, not a vote you have to follow.
